One hammer. Six machetes. 37 kids.
In Ngong, Kenya, 24-year-old Anthony Omari woke up to six men with machetes breaking into the orphanage where 37 children were sleeping. He grabbed the hammer he kept under his bed and charged them alone taking a machete to the face before locking the front door behind him.
When his story hit Reddit, 3,600 strangers from 50 U.S. states and 46 countries sent over $80,000 for fences, guards, and beds. Anthony went on to become a civil engineer and still visits Faraja Children's Home to this day.
